family tree!

It's been too long. HA HA. Now, i'm back to family treeing. :) So far, on the record, we have 696 individuals, including in-laws. Can't wait for hols next month, am hopeful to follow Pa searching for relatives in Dungun and Endau!

One thing i like about family tree is- you can actually know WHERE your family come from and once you get along with it, you can get to know that you have MORE than two Kampongs! And that some of your friends are actually a distant cousin! yee hee!

till then. bye bye.

Puasa-Raya.

I know it has been ages since i last blogged. I've been dastardly busy since July. With assessments, assignments, and tests in between the two, i've lose weight a bit. Oh ya, i've been accepted to School of Journalism in UiTM- the school which has produced "terror" journalists like Fatimah Abu Bakar, Kak Ena, and many others. I really hope to become like them you know. ;P

So how's your Ramadhan? You know, as people get reflected with the Holy Month, i think i've got it too. It's just a continuation, though, as i get reflected almost every day over various reasons. ;P

This month has been all good, too, anyway. I had a series of gastric attack, again. After two visits to the clinic, the pain never eased. But lucky, la, up to this date, saya masih puasa penuh. Alhamdullillah for that.

The middle of Ramadhan came one incident that shocked many in our neighbourhood. A junior of mine in primary school, Ahmad Abbil Abdullah Yunus died of an accident after a collision with a car and a tanker. He did only suffer minor injuries- broken leg, but God loves him more, He took Abbil to be with Him.

That shocked me to the end, as i only saw him just after iftar the night before. Al Fatihah.

So we're not celebrating Raya anywhere, but Brother is here in KL for Raya! That's the good thing...

So Eid Mubarak to everyone!

Hello.

It has been six weeks since my last write-up. And the past three posts too- i've been writing obituaries.

Really, what to write, ah? I saw Sensitive things happen throughout the month. I saw many people who are quite naive about religion, talk about religion- all at their own perspective and interpretation.

Sigh.

The Qur'an is not to be read blindly- you need to know the meaning as well. To get a good grasp on it , one needs to study with an appropriate professional- say an ustaz, for example. Yes, different religious gurus may have different views, but if you don't know much about the verses, better look for people who knows MORE. Cos the Qur'an requires deep understanding and it doesn't take short while to do that.

Tak tahu selok belok ugama, jangan cabar apa apa kalau tak faham betul-betul.

Selamat berpuasa.

Yasmin Ahmad Passes Away

Award-winning director, a blogger and fellow Subang Jayan Yasmin Ahmad, has passed on yesterday night at Damansara Specialist Hospital at about 2325hrs. She was 51.

Body now lies at Masjid Masjid Abu Bakar As-Siddiq in SS19, Subang Jaya, until Zohor prayers. Her body will be brought to a Muslim cemetery in SS 20, Damansara Utama.

"I am optimistic and sentimental to the point of being annoying, especially to people who think that being cynical and cold is cool. Everyday, I thank Allah for everyday things like the ability to breathe, the ability to love, the ability to laugh, and the ability to eat and drink."

Allah loves you more, Yasmin, Rest In Peace.

* I was at a cousin's wedding reception yesterday, which Adibah Noor was emceeing. She later sang a song from the soundtrack "Mukhsin", as a tribute to "sahabat saya yang terlantar" merely 1 hour before Yasmin slipped away. AND, few kilometres away from DSH. She REALLY had a sense... In another account, I first and last saw her @ Little Penang Cafe KLCC few months back with her group of friends, and she looked jovial indeed. Who knows she would meet the Maker few months later- a fact that is hard to believe. Let Allah do the rest of the business....

Another blogger passing away within a week...

PS: Something from her comment box in her last posting (for us to ponder)-
yasmin said...
anuar, the answer to that is Yes. we do break for solat. and the reason for our solat break is not because we think we're good or anything, but because we need to seek allah's guidance and thank him for his blessings. we don't force others to solat with us -- they can see what we're doing, and that i think is enough of a reminder.

UPDATE 1306hrs: She has been laid to rest @ Tanah Perkuburan Islam SS20, Petaling Jaya at about 1240hrs just now.

UPDATE 2: ERRATA: No she was NOT buried @D'sara, as quoted by The Star, but instead in USJ 20 cemetery.

Capt (B) Yusof Ahmad 1947-2009

As i read a friend of mine's Facebook status update this afternoon:

"I am attending a tahlil for Capt Yusof", i could already expect something bad has happened.

I knew him only for a short while. And hardly talked to him, but i listened dilligently to his ramblings and thoughts. Regardless, i enjoyed almost every moment we had with him during MRT. Before it begins, during and even after we adjourned for coffee/chat at the living hall of Kak Ton's place. The whole experience was a merriment.

I liked his sense of humor, especially when it comes to political jokes. "Bad back" . Ahhhahahaha.

His sudden departure has indeed shocked me to the end.

The last time we met was in December last year (also the last time i went to MRT) when i accompanied my colleague to MRT.

I know, despite my absence for already 7 months, MRT would not be the same again after this.

Capt Yusof Ahmad, 1947-2009.

Al Fatihah.

Farewell

Farewell, Mikaeel, nee Michael Joseph Jackson, who succumbed to a cardiac arrest at his home yesterday in Sunset Blvd, in Los Angeles.

He was only 50.

I've nothing to say much, just read the LA Times here and BBC here. Watch the video of his brother Jermaine here, that wishes the Press to respect their privacy during this trying times.

AND, so sad for those who've bought tickets to his London concert, possibly the last. And the concert is not, NEVER to be.

AND, i just found out about songs he recorded in secret, believed to be 100, only to be released AFTER his death. He made the announcement in March this year.

I'm SO buying his book Unmasked:The Michael Jackson Story.

And rest in peace too, Farrah Fawcett.
